Start Date Chosen!

After months of saving, April and I have decided that we will have the money to hike the AT in the spring and have purchased our (non-refundable!) plane tickets to Georgia!  Our flight leaves Maine on April 1st and we will begin our hike the next day.  We're trying to avoid as much cold weather as possible while leaving lots of time to make it back to Maine before Autumn really hits (i.e. October).  We know we'll be starting with a crowd but based on the statistics I've been reading we should have more breathing room by May.  Besides, we like people!

We've requested a reservation at the Hiker Hostel but they won't confirm 2014 reservations until October of this year so hopefully we submitted early enough!

We'll also be attempting to get our base weight for our packs down to about 20 lbs (or less if possible!). We both have some gear on order, can't wait to really start piecing things together!
